Becoming a Registered Senior Teacher |

A YogaBC Registered Senior Teacher has met the requirements listed below.
Students who complete teacher training with a Senior Teacher are then able to apply for the 200-hour and 500-hour YogaBC Teacher Registry program.
Requirements to become a YogaBC Registered Senior Yoga Teacher
- Have a personal practice for a minimum of 10 years.
- Have 500 hours of Yoga teacher training education.
- 1000 hours of teaching experience in Yoga.
- Experience in teaching Yoga for a minimum of 7 years.
- May be required to present two letters of recommendation from other Senior Teachers
- Have current CPR/First aid through BCRPA, CPRA, St. John's, or YMCA.
- Maintain YogaBC membership in good standing.
YogaBC Registered Senior Yoga Teachers will be expected to:
- Act in an advisory capacity and participate in ongoing reviews of standards for the YogaBC Teacher Registry Program
- Offer continuing education study courses and/or workshops.
- Complete 30 hours of continuing education every three years through workshops offered by YogaBC Registered Senior Yoga Teachers.
- Review other Senior Teacher applications on a as-need basis.
- Give any of their students YogaBC Registry information and refer them to the YogaBC website.
- Sign up new teachers as members of YogaBC. Senior teachers can do this in four different ways:
- include basic membership in teacher training fee
- include basic membership in teacher training materials fee
- sign up teachers at teacher training course
- have a YogaBC representative come to teacher training course to sign up teachers
- Understand the recommended YogaBC Studio Guidelines.
- Renew their registration every three years.

- YogaBC membership fees. (minimun Basic membership is required)
