About YogaBC

Welcome to YogaBC, your source for connecting to the people and education in British Columbia's yoga community.

What began as a group of yoga teachers meeting in a small Vancouver studio in the late 90's was registered as YABC - the Yoga Association of British Columbia in March, 2000.

Today as YogaBC, this association continues to act as a forum for advocacy, dialogue, peer-to-peer connections, and continuing education.

The vision of YogaBC is to see yoga services as a key element to contributing to the health and well-being of British Columbians through highly skilled teachers in schools, health care facilities, studios, and everywhere there is space to empower people in their pursuit of well-being.

Goals:
1. Develop higher standards and clear guidelines for
YTT programs – which will result in less injuries, and positive feedback from the public.

2. Support a multidisciplinary community of yoga teachers and studios – which will result in greater shared knowledge, efficiencies, and best practices

3. Increase and improve teaching skills, particularly the skills involved in teaching adults or children – which will result in higher quality learning and richer experiences with yoga.

We do this by organizing educational events, communications  activities, and consultations with those delivering yoga programs.

By being a member of YogaBC, you are able to access the local network of experts to build skills both in yoga techniques, and operational management valuable to your long term stability and success.
