Dedicated to Serving the BC Yoga Community, the YogaBC board of directors are:

James HayterJames Hayter, President
Initial interest in the Vedic sciences was sparked in 1995 during competition training for surfing and karate, realizing the impact of Yoga techniques and meditation on training and daily life. During this time James has lived, studied, been initiated and taken students to India, particularly the Bihar School of Yoga, the world’s first Yoga University established by Paramahamsa Satyananda Saraswati. James has jointly owned a yoga studio in Vancouver, Canada and released a series of Yoga and meditation CDs to assist people with daily practice (sadhana). From 2008 to 2010 he was on faculty at Langara College in Vancouver, teaching their foundation Yoga Teacher Training and developing their advanced training program. James has been president of the Yoga Association of British Columbia (YogaBC) since of 2010. He is a qualified Satyananda Yoga teacher, a Shamballa Reiki Master, has a 1st Degree Black Belt in Shotokan Karate, is a Vision Quest protector, holds a diploma in Construction and a BA (HONS) in Architecture.

Nicole Stinson Nicole Stinson, Secretary
Nicole Marques Stinson is the Senior Advisor for Strategic Planning at BC Housing. Nicole has expertise in the areas of corporate governance, communications, and policy and program development. She is a certified project management professional and completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training in 2007.
Sandra LouieSandra Louie, Director of Events
Sandra Louie has 15 years of experience as an educator, researcher, and event planner. She has sat on and contributed to a number of municipal, provincial, and national tourism committees in these fields and more recently was President and Chair of the Tourism and Travel Research Association (Canada Chapter) where she had the opportunity to lead the board of directors in the growth and development of the association. Sandra is currently teaching business and event management to post secondary students. She has been a student of Iyengar and various other forms of Hatha Yoga for over a decade.

Cordia ChanCordia Chan, Director of Strategic Marketing
Cordia recently joined the team at YogaBC and brings with her vast experience in Marketing and Communications. She has an MBA from UBC focusing on Marketing and Strategy, and has over 7 years work experience iin marketing. She worked with a marketing agency developing innovative and creative campaigns for companies like Labatt, Coca Cola, Rogers Communications and Proctor and Gamble, and after completing her MBA realized that she wanted a career that was focused on health. She spent some time working at the BC Cancer Agency as a Social Marketing manager helping them to find different ways of communicating important health information, and currently works at DASH BC (Directorate of Agencies for School Health) as their Communications Manager. She started practicing yoga 7 years ago, and is passionate about the work that YogaBC is doing. She is looking forward to bringing her expertise in marketing to the organization and contributing to the growth and mission of YogaBC.

Jose Antonio MadrizJosé Antonio Madriz, Director of IT
José Antonio Madriz has a B.S. / M.S. in Computer Science / Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. He has more than 12 years in the technology industry, in different roles as a software developer, technology consultant, Internet startup entrepreneur, and product development manager. He is also a documentary Photographer, obtained a diploma in Digital Photography from the Vancouver Institute of Media Arts (VanArts). José Antonio has been practicing yoga for almost 7 years.
